Winter Wonderland

For the second time in a little over 6 weeks, we are getting some snow in North Carolina courtesy of the winter storm that hit the mid-South. We got around 5 or 6 inches in northern Orange County, but the good news was no freezing rain. Woke up this morning to this view from my deck.

Late January snow in North Carolina's Triangle takes me back 10 years when the historic snowstorm of January 24-25, 2000 hit. This was a freakish event with a record 20 inch snowfall recorded at RDU. That storm was noteworthy to me because Tuesday, January 25, 2000 was supposed to be the day that I closed on my current house. Arrgh. Nothing like having to scramble to reschedule closing attorney, seller's agent, seller, and moving company all because Mother Nature picked that day to dump all that powder.

No such angst this time. Plenty of advance notice to stock up on the essentials. (A case of Natty Light was on sale for $9.99 at Food Lion. So I picked up two on my way home from work yesterday. The second one of course is just part of a contingency plan. Oh....and beer snobs can kiss my butt!) With the best sport ever created (College Basketball) in full-bloom and with the ESPN Full Court Package already purchased, I am good to go.
