You might have already come across the above video, as it has gone viral over the last couple of days. It captures Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson taunting the Auburn student section moments after hitting the game-winning free throws in last Saturday’s SEC tilt. The accompanying description of this scene from CBSSports.com College Basketball blogger Jeff Borzello here is just so sweet – well done Jeff - simply superb LOL stuff.
I have to admit that Sunday afternoon, when I came across this clip, I was already through 5 bottles of a 6-pack of Sam Adams Winter Lager. I proceeded to spend the better part of the next 15 minutes watching the clip and howling.
The “Pajama Girl” is of course awesome. The girl right behind Pajama Girl is really into it as well. The booster right in front of Henderson (the one that stands up and seems to say “What a Jackass”) also rocks – he gets bonus points for bearing a bit of a resemblance to Turd Blossom. The intensity and earnestness of the Auburn students says something – what it actually says, well, I am not sure.
Maybe the folks behind Students For Concealed Carry are on to something here. My meager brain originally couldn’t quite get with the notion of integrating large numbers of firearms into the college environment. You know - mixing guns with a bunch of emotionally volatile 18-21 year olds in a combustible environment already teeming with large quantities of alcohol, drugs, and sex. But maybe I am looking at this the wrong way. Talk about the opportunity to create intimidating home court/home field environments. I know I would feel much safer in that arena if some of those students in that GIF were packing - until of course the visiting team and their fans bring along their own arsenal. Definitely gives an entirely new spin on the phrase “arms race” as it is used in college athletics.
