Happy Thanksgiving!
Long time – no blog.
They say the only thing worse than an uninteresting weblog is one that doesn’t get updated consistently. Guilty Your Honor. I haven’t been feeling particularly creative this whole year. Work has been really hectic as late and the last thing I have felt like doing when I get home is get back behind the keyboard.
That leaves the weekends, and when they haven’t also been consumed with the Paying Day Job, they have been chopped up with various events that have conspired to disrupt any blogging continuity. For example, just since the middle of July
- Two weddings in Wilmington, NC and Chattanooga, TN.
- Vacation trips to Asheville and Charleston, SC.
- Trips to Charleston, WV and Pittsburgh to see the WV Power and the Pittsburgh Baseball Club in early August.
- About ten college football games including road trips to Charlottesville, VA and Winston-Salem, NC.
I know – these are pretty lame excuses. Who isn’t busy these days? But, as People Magazine “journalist” Michael Gold (played by Jeff Goldblum) declared in 1983’s Big Chill, “I don't know anyone who could get through the day without two or three juicy rationalizations. They're more important than sex.”
Clearly there is plenty of room for improvement here. My last day of work this year is December 13 – a nice long break until returning January 2, 2014. I can’t really use the “too busy at work” excuse then.
To get back into the blogging routine, I am going to go after the “low hanging fruit” – some short summaries of a couple of the trips taken over the last few months. These aren’t probably terribly interesting to others and are of a “personal journal” flavor rather than blog post. But it’s best to capture them while I still have some semblance of my mind and memory intact.
